2 Bayshore

2 Bayshore is a sculptural address marker composed of hundreds of individual aluminum "2s," waterjet-cut and welded together into a single sweeping form. Built up in quarter-inch aluminum plate, the piece layers repetition into mass — each cut numeral overlapping the next until the figure itself dissolves into texture, pattern, and light.

The sculpture takes the shape of a bold, curving "2," its silhouette rendered not as a solid form but as a dense accumulation of smaller versions of itself. Alternating black and brushed aluminum finishes catch the light differently across the surface, giving the piece a shifting, almost woven quality as the viewer moves past it.

Mounted on the building's facade, 2 Bayshore functions as both identity and artwork — a wayfinding marker for the residence that doubles as public sculpture. At 4 feet square and a foot deep, it holds its own against the architecture's scale while remaining legible from the street below.

The piece was originally conceived in collaboration with artist Marc De Waele, and completed in his memory after his passing. It carries forward his vision, along with an ongoing interest in repetition and accumulation as sculptural strategy — building a single, confident gesture out of hundreds of smaller, identical parts.
